3rd May // Found – Day 3 // When God Finds

 Reading – Matthew 8:5-10

It was a week before my mission trip to India when disaster struck. My passport somehow disappeared which meant my visa had also disappeared.  I searched everywhere. I searched my house. I searched relative’s houses. I blamed almost anyone who had been in my house in the last month. Then one day, I opened the glove box in my car. There it was, that beautiful burgundy booklet staring at me. I may or may not have taken it out and hugged it. Such relief. All was well.

There is something overwhelmingly joyful when you find what you’ve been searching for, no matter how big or small it might be. We see time and time again in the Bible that God is looking for people, not just to save, but to call into purpose, people full of faith. We see it in Matthew 8:10.

When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, “I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.”

Jesus finds faith in a man who nobody expected it from and He was “astonished”. What happens? A miracle, the supernatural invades. Jesus finds faith, and when He does anything can happen. The adventure begins.

I love how God describes the type of heart He finds in King David.

But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.’ (Acts 13:22)

Did you catch that? We see that God has a purpose for David because he does everything that He wants him to do. When we read the life of David we can see the adventure that David got to go on, the shepherd who becomes a warrior, who becomes a King.

It gets me thinking, what if God found faith in us like He hadn’t seen before in our town or nation, if He found hearts after His that would do all that He wanted us to do? How different would things be? Imagine the adventure, imagine how different your family would be, imagine what your community would look like.  Imagine how God would break in if in us He found a people of faith, who wouldn’t just live for themselves but who would do all He wanted them to.

You see I’m absolutely convinced that God has a plan, a plan for our loved ones, a plan for our town, a plan for the nations. He looks for hearts and lives that will partner with Him in bringing healing and restoration. He’s looking for you. For the sake of our world, please say, “Yes”. Please be a person who says, “God if you’re looking for someone like that, I’ll do it.”

God looks for hearts full of faith. God looks for hearts after His.  God looks for people who will do all He wants them to do. Surrender to Him again. Be found.
